About us

Shamel is an independent digital library of articles, books and research papers on history, thought, language and the history of science.

We believe knowledge has no language borders, so we publish in five languages: Arabic, English, Spanish, Italian and French, languages that share a long history of exchange across the Mediterranean.

What we publish

• Articles: short, sourced pieces that explain one idea, event or word.
• Books: introductions to foundational works and their influence.
• Research papers: deeper studies with an abstract and citation.

How we work

Every text goes through editorial review, and we cite our sources wherever possible. If you spot a mistake or would like to contribute, we'd be glad to hear from you.
